Disappointing gesture from Shane - 07-21-2019, 09:39 AM

I was watching Shane's match against Aranas on the TV table, and after it was over you could see Shane drag the tip of his cue on the rug to clean it of chalk before he put in the case. He then did the same for the second cue.

For some reason that bothered me. He always seemed like an elegant player, but I thought that lacked class. Surely he could have used a paper towel or his own towel?

This is very common. I wouldn’t hold it against him. Kristina Tkach did the same after her match.

If I came to your house and did that on your rug, how would you feel?

Local pool hall recommended doing this. Lot different than a private home setting.
Just to keep case a bit cleaner I made tip caps. No wasn’t expensive chalk. LOL

I'd feel the same way as my dog dragging his ass against the carpet. I'd rub your nose in it and tell ya to never do it again. Only kidding! LMAO

Doesn't mean that it's the proper way to behave I always have a napkin or paper towel in my case to do shaft maintenance if there's nothing available when I'm done playing.

A few years ago I watched Ralf S do this and I was amazed that a player that I felt was total class would take such actions. After years of seeing many top players do the same thing I got over it....I like Ralf again.

A room owner was on my team and he said if everyone does that and he has to change is carpet more frequently or with cheaper stuff. How fair is that to him. Since then I have always used my towel.

I agree. They're in a casino. Probably FAR worse stuff hits that rug every 24hrs. I do same thing every time i play. Room owner has NEVER said one word about it. I wouldn't do it in someone's house but we're not talking about a house.

Well.... - 07-21-2019, 10:47 AM

I personally would not do that and would wipe the tip off with a napkin, paper towel, Kleenex, etc.

When ever I see some one doing it and look at the blue streak they leave on the floor I wish there tip would of popped off.

Any one ever see Efren or any of the Asian players doing that?

At a LOT of the places i've played in a blue-streak in the rug would be called "re-modeling".

I'd agree that it's inelegant, but it's also excusable. You see it a lot.
