Smile 7 age categories; double elim?; volunteering... - 02-10-2018, 09:02 PM

1) I see now there is 14/16/18 and under boys/girls (separately) and a coed non-qualifying category. So assuming only top finishes in 18 and 16 and understand will be worlds qualifiers unlike in past since worlds is/has been 18/16 and under boys/girls? Also the post on the BEF site has changed at least once....at one point it said there would only be 16/18 and under. My 14 year old approves sort of best of both options...14 and understand can still compete for nationals, but US will have more matched categories for worlds which is also good. Also addition of non qualifying 11 and under will bring in more kids earlier to get them more engaged. I think sounds all good if I got all that right? Any other changes being considered?

2) please do double elimination all the way through. The late stage single elimination made for some frustrating situations that I saw in multiple instances. More categories but same number I’d kids. Hopefully more staff and volunteers....hoping you make double elim happen.

3) They asked and I've already volunteered and been assigned a task (that I could do from home)...would encourage others who are supporting the BEF to volunteer as well in whatever capacity you can. Here's their link: https://billiardeducation.org/Volunteer
