Has anyone seen the new OB-136 cue? - 06-06-2014, 02:32 PM

I'm a custom cue kinda guy but I have to give it to OB cues the photos of the OB-136 has caught my eye as a very attractive cue.
So I thought I would ask around to see if anyone had any feedback on this cue.

The 136 is a beautiful cue, but there aren't any out there yet.

They are way past due, and the responsibility rests solely on my shoulders. They just aren't quite ready. Hopefully, they will be soon.

Sorry!

It looks nice but for the amount of money they charge I could spend on a custom.

Gotta give you credit...it's not every day that someone steps up and claims responsibility for a delay when folks are wanting an item. Very classy, and well done. As for the cue, it looks fantastic!

Don't forget that all the points and veneers are recuts.

That just doesn't happen in production cues.

Right now I'm perfecting a couple of little details that I'm just not happy with yet, so at first just a few. But, we have a quite a few that are most of the way there and waiting on the final process adjustments.

Royce -- As I look through the "Catalog" of cues on your website, I get the feeling that the pictures are not of real cues. I say this because of the grain and figure in the "wood." For instance, the straight-grain "maple" in cues 120 and 121 is the same. And the stained birdseye maple in cues 126 and 127 is the same. And the birdseye maple in cues 124, 125, and 128 through 135 is all the same (and would be very nice BEM!).

Are all of these pictures computer generated rather than pictures of actual cues? Perhaps the Cataog was created before you had produced cues for some of the models?

And how about the individual pictures of the cue models from clicking under "Products" rather than the catalog pictures. The cues I looked at in those individual pictures do not seem to have identically repeating figure in the woods, so perhaps they are of real cues.

P.S. That 136 is a beauty!

I'd love to see a cue like the OB-132 with slightly fancier ring work and a solid black or hope ring butt. The cues you guys at OB are making are the classiest production (I use the term loosely) cues available!!!!

Royce
The fact that these points are really double the amount because of the Blood wood Recuts into the Maple points should be part of your selling points in your OB-136 ad.
That kind of craftsmanship is found in custom cues not production cues.
Mezz has Exceed adding a custom line of cues to their production models.
OB can have a similar deal with standard OB production models with a line of custom cues that come with OB shafts.

AtLarge

There are actually 2 places on our site to see images of the cue.

The Catalog is a computer generated thing, and all the images there are renderings and not actual pictures. We've always talked about setting up pictures for that, but just haven't had the time to setup and shoot all new pictures.

The Products category does show all real pictures for everything except the 136. We will shoot new pics of it as soon as we get them rolling out of the shop.

Thanks

Royce
