As much as I am looking forward to seeing all my friends and fellow pool players at this event this weekend, I am still saddened by the loss of my friend Chuck Markulis.

Chuck was one of the most memorable men I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and working with in my life.

I still miss him and sometimes hear his voice in the crowds at Hard Times.

He was a true friend of the pool players and enjoyed what he did.

No one left Hard...

Well, Aug 1st and 2nd were the last two days of the Summer's guaranteed bonus added money for the One Pocket and 9 Ball events.
The $500 added 1Pkt and $1000 added 9Ball events had 28 and 42 players entered respectively.

Rafael Martinez won both events and a hefty chunk of change. Thanks Rafael for making the tournament finals exciting. What a player.

Lots of great players for these events. Oscar and his Dad Ernesto Dominguez, those players mentioned above (last month's one pocket and 9 ball winners) George Michaels and Jun Almoite, HOF'er Ronnie Allen and the area's best players.

Always a pleasure to host one of the West Coast's better attended monthly events....

But not as much... it is currently 88 degrees, just 20 degrees cooler than Sunday.

Tuesday and Thursday are 8 Ball line tournaments at Hard Times. The Summer brings out the bar league players to enjoy the 9 foot table competition for 2.5 hours for $10 and usually they have a better than even chance of winning some $$$

Saturday and Sunday are the Monthly One Pocket and 9 ball events. $500 added for 1pkt and $1000 added for 9 ball. both guaranteed.

Yesterday Sacramento broke a record by reaching 108 degrees... the previous recorded HOT temperature on this date was 104.
IT WAS VERY HOT FOR JUNE 28th.

It is suppose to be getting better this week and be in the low 90s for July 4th... yeah!!!

Rain is not an option... I can't remember the last time it rained in Sacramento...

It is too dry to sweat... LOL

It is a good day, Tuesday.. but HOT. in the high 90s at 1pm and approaching triple digits later in the afternoon.

No tournament tonight, but I will be going to Hard Times to play on the newly recovered tables by Oscar and Pops Dominguez.

I love playing on new cloth. It is one of Pool's little pleasures that last for a few weeks and then back to the NORMAL playing conditions. Retail pool play is real tough on cloth and it wears quickly.
