OP asked: "If a Billiard Supply site were scamming customers, they would be shut down, right?"

Wells Fargo Bank outright scammed millions of its customers by creating fraudulent accounts in their names without their permission. They're still in business somehow (they'll never get a dime of my biz ever).

So, can a billiard supply biz scam and still be in business? I don't see why not.

ftr, I don't know anything about the particular business being discussed in this thread so I have no opinion on whether or not they are honest.

best,
brian kc

I think Justin was hired to test how voting without IDs and mail in voting will work LOL

We need to see how many different questions you can ask using various fake names without being caught and banned.

It's gotten so bad every new poster is just assumed to be Justin, like it was with PoolKillers LOL

You could order with paypal or credit card and do a charge back if you don't get the item. Committing credit card fraud, which the card companies will investigate, might be the quickest way to get them shut down.

I didn't see anything about the disposition of the case. Is there a useful law clerk in the house?

Not an opinion. Just a press release.

https://www.justice.gov/usao-wdla/pr...le-merchandise

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, September 9, 2013
Lafayette Man Pleads Guilty To Selling Fake Apple Merchandise
LAFAYETTE, La. – United States Attorney Stephanie A. Finley announced that Brennan LeBlanc, 37, of Lafayette, pleaded guilty Friday before U.S. District Judge Richard T. Haik to trafficking in counterfeit Apple Inc. products.

According to evidence presented at the guilty plea, in May of 2012 Apple Inc. investigators informed U.S. Homeland Security investigators that Iphonelafayette.com, which LeBlanc owns andlocated on Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette, was selling counterfeit iPhone merchandise. Apple investigators told authorities that the Lafayette company’s website had several pictures containing counterfeit items.

On May 9, 2012, HSI agents along with a private investigator working for Apple entered the Kaliste Saloom store. The private investigator was an industry representative who specialized in trademark and copyright infringement investigations. The investigator purchased several covers displaying the brand insignia for Louis Vuitton, Coach, Otter Box and Apple for $100; the cases purchased were counterfeit. Additionally, on January 15, 2013, an undercover Louisiana State Police trooper purchased an Apple iPhone sleeve and Luis Vuitton case from the store, which were also determined to be counterfeit. The undercover trooper spoke with Leblanc who advised that additional similar counterfeit cases would be delivered the next week.

On January 25, 2013, HSI searched the business and discovered numerous counterfeit items, including 31 Louis Vuitton iPhone cases, 8 Coach iPhone cases, 241 Otter Box iPhone cases and 427 Apple iPhone cases. LeBlanc admitted that all of the cases were counterfeit.

LeBlanc faces up to 10 years in prison, a $2 million fine and three years of supervised release for trafficking in counterfeit goods or services. A sentencing date was not set.

Homeland Security Investigations, Louisiana State Police and Apple Inc. conducted the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Myers P. Namie is prosecuting the case.

Just wanted to talk about the sentence. Judging by past sentences for far greater counterfeit product cases, he will probably receive a very minor slap on the wrist plus probation. I doubt he spends five minutes in state or federal prison and the fine will probably be in tens of thousands at most.

Interesting that Apple got into this too. Wonder if they will also appear as a friend of the court? Might make my predictions on sentencing be wrong. Still don't expect anything like ten years or two million in fines but two years and a few hundred thousand in fines would be nice to see. This guy has been scamming for years.

Hu, you are correct again. I tried to find results of the sentencing hearing but could not find it. Sorry for repetitive posting. I had not opened Spartan's link to the press release prior to posting the press release contents.
