Thanks. That note will appear in the listing when I update the website this weekend.

the previous posters make a good point....many of the snooker tables in the US have pool cloth on them instead of the traditional english napped cloth. that could be something to note in the listings as they get refined.
Will do. I have an open-ended note section for each listing, so I can include information about the cloth and other information about the table. For instance, the listings for Chalkers in California has this note:
"Table has fast, napless cloth for Golf."

i don't know what the pocket difference is for a 'golf' type table....are they tighter than normal snooker pockets? snooker pockets are already pretty tight, how much smaller are we talking?
Good question. From what I've read and seen in a video or two, on a table dedicated to golf the pockets are often tight enough to just barely allow the ball to pass in. It'd be interesting to get actual measurements from tables.

wow if the golf tables are that tight, then yeah it's not going to be fun playing snooker on them. i don't know anything about golf or why they need pockets that tight...sounds like it's similar to a russian billiards table!

Exactly!

I've only seen one or two pictures of Russian billiards, but it looks brutal.

Hi everyone! New to the board here. I've been playing snooker for about a year now and I have to say I'm hooked. Just wanted to add some more locations with snooker tables.

Dodo's Pool Room
128 W Hancock St
Milledgeville, GA 31061
478-452-1512
There are 2 5x10 1920s era Brunswick snooker tables but only 1 is constantly used. The main playing table has possibly the tightest pockets in Georgia. Every Friday night we play 2 or 3 man team for 5 a head and we draw for partners. We'll play all night and early into the morning, sometimes until 3 or 4 AM. Plus the pool time is dirt cheap. I've played 3 or 4 hours straight sometimes and time was only $2 or $3.

The End Rail
3099 Napier Ave
Macon,GA 31204
478-750-8222
The End Rail has 2 5x10 Gandy snooker tables (unsure of age of tables) in excellent condition. The rate is $2 per game and every Saturday they hold a snooker tournament. It begins at around 5 PM and costs $15 to enter. Each 2 man team is determined by a blind draw and a calcutta is held after the teams are drawn. The tournament format is double elimination with only one game played per match. The payout depends on the number of teams, with usually the top 2 spots getting paid. Of course after the tournament is over there is usually action to be found. It's a great way to spend a Saturday either way.

Rudy's Rack & Cue
710 N Jefferson St
Dublin,GA 31021
478-272-9790
There is a Gandy 5x10 snooker table in okay condition. I've only been there once and it was an okay place. The snooker table needs to either be refelted or cleaned very well. The rate is $3 per hour I believe and there are no tournaments held there that I know of. Action may be found but don't count on it. If calling ask for a guy named "Lucky" and he might be able to direct you to something.

I frequently visit the Hole Thang and I've been to Mr. Cue's 2. The table at the Hole Thang is fair. I played on the 12 footer at Mr. Cue's 2 right after they were finished refelting it and it was a treat to play on. Then again it was the first time playing on a 6x12. Looking forward to going back if I can find someone to play. The bartender said that most people play 9 ball and one pocket instead.

Wow! Your new info merited a mid-week update to the site; your contribution means the number of snooker tables known to be in Georgia has doubled. Thanks very much!

Do you play with a snooker cue?

If you're interested in getting a snooker cue you might want to check out www.thesnookerforum.com if you haven't already.

I'm just glad I could contribute! I'll be on the lookout for more tables, whether they are good or bad.
I play with a pool cue,a Pechauer with a Predator 314 second generation shaft. I've been considering getting a snooker cue but I would have to get a new case and everything,so I would have to save up for everything. Is is hard to adjust playing with a snooker cue after playing with a pool cue? I still play pool so I don't want to constantly be adjusting to the hit and feel of a snooker cue.

Thanks. I'm hoping to have at least 200 rooms on the list within the next few months.

I'm not sure how hard it'll be to adjust to using a snooker cue, but I'll find out when my Mike Wooldridge cue arrives (http://www.handmadecues.com/). It has a 3/4 joint, which is something I've never tried before. I've practiced using a snooker stance, and though it was a bit uncomfortable (or even painful) it didn't seem too hard to get used to.

Poster "bkunderme" plays both pool and snooker and has different cues for each.
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=143752

After I've had a chance to hit with the Wooldridge a bit I'm going to start a new thread about switching between cues. I'll be curious how many folks have tried it.

Hey im new here as well. Ive been playing pool for a few years. I love snooker, but i cant find anywhere/anyone to play. I'm in Georgia as well, (Gwinnett area).. There are no places at all! And thanks for that list.

I have one more place in Georgia to note with a snooker table:

Pool Room (Marietta) has 1 Snooker table I think. I've never been there though.

The Pool Room is now Marietta Billiard Club. When I called on May 27 I was told they no longer have the snooker table. I would guess it was removed when ownership changed hands.

By this evening I plan to publish the U.S. map of all current listings. The map should make it easier to track down the pool hall with a snooker table closest to you; in some cases the pool hall may be in a neighboring state.

Map with U.S. snooker tables now online - 07-26-2009, 08:39 AM

The map with U.S. snooker tables is now online at

http://www.findsnooker.com/maps.html

A few notes:
1. To get more information about a point on the map, refer back to the state listings linked from the Home page.
2. There are two listings in Anchorage, AK, but you'll see only one flag until you zoom in.
3. I haven't verified the positions for all the listings; the positions are automatically generated based on the addresses I provided.

clicked on Oregon...absent I see:

The Cue Ball
1262 State Street
Salem, Oregon 97301
Ph. (503) 362-9740

Most afternoons, you'll find a golf game in progress...
I believe it's a 10' table...but could be wrong.
