I'm more worried about the "interference" of a bad rack, balls not perfect etc

The magic rack is highly effective and improves the game

Sometimes with a loose rack the game gets more interesting

It does affect the movement of the balls. It is rarely significant but it is a fact. So it has its pros and cons. I say use it on a table where the balls wont rack properly with a triangle or a diamond because the pros outweigh the cons. On a good table no need - always looks a bit amateur in a professional tournament no matter how thin it is. Not totally against it but prefer just rack em tight as you can at the front and just fkin hit it.
