Hey, you clever little clovers that are regulating this covid enforcement stuff. You realize that playing pool is already structured for this right? It's built in the game with the smallest table being 7 feet long! We are already distancing you morons. Open the pool rooms back up and stop acting like jerks!

" 2020 Championship canceled due to coronavirus
UNITED STATES SNOOKER ASSOCIATION·SUNDAY, 6 SEPTEMBER 2020·2 MINUTES
The Board of the United States Snooker Association (USSA) has taken the decision to cancel the 2020 United States National Snooker Championship due to the ongoing coronavirus situation in the United States.
This year's Championship had been originally scheduled to be taking place at this moment in time at the New York Athletic Club (NYAC), concluding tomorrow Labor Day.
It was then considered that the Championship could possibly still go ahead in early November at the NYAC, but today the Board has taken the decision the formally cancel the 2020 event.
"As there hasn't been any reduction in the rate of infection since our last Board Meeting in July, the USSA has had no choice but to unfortunately cancel this year's Championship," said Alan Morris, the Executive Director of the USSA.
"This is the first year since 2003 that there will not be a United States National Snooker Championship, but under the current circumstances the decision was really taken out of our hands.
"We feel sure that we have the full support for this decision from all the regular Championship players around the United States, and we hope to welcome them back to compete in this prestigious Championship next year."
The USSA would like to announce that the 2021 Championship is intended to be played at the NYAC, and the USSA thanks the NYAC for its continued partnership, although the dates for the event are now under review."

Dang pesky corona virus !

Thumbs up Nostalgic British TV, Films and Adverts - 09-11-2020, 08:40 PM

Somebody somewhere put me into this Facebook group as the question was asked.....

"Does anyone remember a film or TV program being suddenly interupted for an ITN news alert? I can remember it happening during the film McKennas Gold when President Ragan was shot, and before that during, I think, possibly Rising Damp, when Mountbatten was blown up. They don't seem to do it any more. As I remember, it was only ITN that did it. I don't remember seeing it done by the BBC."

I replied with.....

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980_W...hlLRWGW16ZSbGU

Gerald Church The coverage of the final was interrupted by coverage of the Iranian Embassy siege, as the BBC took the snooker off the air to bring live coverage of the SAS storming the Iranian Embassy in London.[6]

We were kids just looking for a mates house at the time who had a working colour TV set with parents who wouldn't mind us in the room watching .

Who ya think's gonna win ?

Must be Alex , no , Cliff , how many frames to the winner ? Final scores ?

Auntie Beeb switched to live coverage of 'The Irainan Embassy Hostage Siege ' scenes :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p4DmuGyehc

We were about 14 years old , some older , some younger and all we wanted was to see the World Snooker Final Alex Higgins V Cliff Thorburn but Auntie Beeb cut the feed , try BBC2 we said , then back to BBC1 , try ITV , must've finished by now etc !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2REq6D-lAI

In case your wondering I gave up when Auntie Beeb cut the live feed on the World Seniors Championshhips at Jimmy White 4 V 4 Ken Doherty .

Thumbs up Coronavirus – epsb guidance update - 09-24-2020, 07:07 PM

https://wst.tv/coronavirus-epsb-guidance-update/

Thursday 24 Sep 2020 12:49PM
Following announcements by UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson in respect of new national restrictions to address rising cases of coronavirus in England, the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards has updated its current guidance documents for its affiliated snooker facilities in England.

EPSB Covid-19 Guidance documents
Please note that this is guidance only and clubs must also continue to consult their Local Authority and Health and Safety Executive for approval of their club Covid-19 secure protocols.

KEY CHANGES
GENERAL CLUB COMPETITIONS
From 24 September there is no longer an exemption to the “Rule of six” for indoor organised sport for over-18s as previously in place. This has the following effect:

National Governing Body competitions will not take place until further notice
Pro-Am competitions should not take place until further notice
Snooker exhibitions should not take place until further notice.
Internal club competitions should be designed within the UK Government’s guidelines to align with the ‘Rule of six’. Any formats that could involve larger numbers of people mixing should be revised to avoid this happening e.g. played over several weeks rather than on a single day.

FACE COVERINGS
There have been revisions to the guidance in respect of face coverings as follows:

Face coverings now must be worn to enter all snooker venues.
These can be removed once at a designated snooker table or bar table, at players’ discretion.
They must be put on again whenever leaving the designated area. Exemptions apply.
BUSINESS OPENING
There have also been changes in respect of business opening and the availability of food:

All affiliated clubs must be closed between 10:00pm and 5:00am.
Clubs providing food and drink should observe the closing times for takeaways, but delivery services can continue after 10:00pm.
In licensed premises, food and drink must be ordered from, and served at, a table, which includes a designated snooker table.
Wherever possible, snooker balls and equipment should be brought to the booked table by a member of staff.
QR CODES
All businesses will need to display the official NHS QR code posters so that customers can ‘check-in’ at different premises using this option as an alternative to providing their contact details once the app is rolled out nationally (from 24 September). This is available from https://tinyurl.com/y68mfwwl

FURTHER SUPPORT
Any affiliated 147 Club requiring further support can contact Bob Hill for further information or alternatively is encouraged to share queries within our dedicated Facebook Group where club owners are encouraged to seek guidance and share experiences nationally for the benefit of all.

Can you believe that folks ?

That's the way it is to be !

Dear Members

Under the current COVID-19 restrictions the following restrictions must be followed when visiting the club.

You can no longer go to the bar to be served, so the staff will be operating a table service only.

You MUST wear a face mask in the club until you’re seated and remain in your seat, then you can remove it.

You MUST put the mask back on when you go to the toilets or to go out for a cigarette.

Remember to fill the Track and Trace register and anyone not putting all their details down will NOT be served.
With your help in adhering to these restrictions it will play a big part in protecting the staff, people you come in contact with and more importantly YOU.
I know these are still very tough times and we are very happy to be staying open and offering our members/visitors the use of our facilities.
Please take care and stay safe.

Chris Mason , ex darts player , ITV4 commentator posted this to Facebook via Andrew Pagett .

I heard through the grapevine (my son via his mate) that The Lucky Break Snooker Club has been taken over and the shutters are down .

Question is will it ever reopen because it's prime land for building but I will have to ask around to find out exactly what is happening but who would like to own a Snooker Club in times like these ?

PM Boris 'Bonkers' Johnson has ordered everywhere to shutdown at 10pm and the law is if you break the rules you can be fined up to £10,000 , flout the law and they can shut you down . Don't do it , no point in going bust for flouting a law and maybe the best way around it is to find a mate with a table .

It's grim .

Covid in Scotland: New alcohol rules 'will cost thousands of jobs' :

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-54456825 .

Quote .

"All licensed premises - with the exception of hotels for residents - will be required to close indoors and outdoors, although takeaways will be permitted
Cafes which do not have an alcohol licence will be able to stay open until 18:00
Snooker and pool halls, indoor bowling alleys, casinos and bingo halls will also close in the five health board areas for two weeks from 10 October
Contact sports for people aged 18 and over will be suspended for the next two weeks - with an exception for professional sports
Indoor group exercise activities will not be allowed, although the current rules will remain in place for under 18s and gyms can remain open for individual exercise
Outdoor live events will not be permitted for the next fortnight."

First Minister for Scotland Nicola Sturgeon.....

The entire statement reads like paragraphs from Adolf Hitlers Meine Kampf :

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mein_Kampf

Covid in Scotland: New alcohol rules 'will cost thousands of jobs' :

Quote .

"Rules for the rest of Scotland
Pubs, restaurants and cafes are being barred from selling alcohol indoors from 18:00 on Friday until 25 October
They can open inside from 06:00 until 18:00 to sell soft drinks and food
They will be able to sell alcohol for outside areas until 22:00"

To cut it short and sweet any Snooker Halls in the central belt of Scotland who managed to somehow reopen after the lockdown who somehow found a way to survive under the new restrictions are now being forced to close for sixteen days as from today 09/010/2020 .

Grim times ahead.:
