Thanks for having me here Rick. As for slashers point; Ronnie O'Sullivan does hit the ball beautifully. There are no pool players who come close to his accuracy. I have, however, also watched him strike a pool ball. The stroke is not nearly as beautiful as his snooker stroke and he's not nearly as accurate.

What I have been saying all along is this. Most players and even pro snooker players struggle a times to strike the CB in the same place consistently so TOI is a ruse and is simply bringing attention to the cue ball which most amateurs do not correctly time anyway. CJ's stroke is as bent as a 3 dollar bill and he does not even know what he is actually doing. He started doing it to compensate for missing all the while not knowing he does not stroke straight (like most US pool players) It works for him because he's done it for years, if you actually saw where he strikes the CB this myth would be blown away.

Ok I put a triangle tip on yesterday and started shooting. My theroy was that the soft tip was gripping the cb too long and not allowing for max deflection. Turns out that is exactly correct. With the harder triangle tip I have no problem hitting the 30 degree angle with one tip over. All of my shifting is much smaller now. I also noticed that I can do it with a much softer stroke. Hope this helps you.
P.S. I have also used cte but I feel this is stronger, of you play different tournaments I am noticing it is much easier to adjust to changing conditions. You ju st hit a few and immediately know if you need more or less shift. Just my observation. Good luck and hope this helps.

I'll soon be 55.

I began going to the Golden Q in Queens, NY, in 1966, aged 8. My father played pool once a week and took me with him. He left me by the exhibition tables, where I sweated the action until his game was over. Many legends frequented the Golden Q bakc then, including Laurie, Nagy, Eufemia, Mizerak, Colavita, Martin, Crane, and Ervolino. I saw all of them play.

By age 11, though I had yet to hit my first ball, I had watched the old timers for 3 years, and began to understand what they were doing.

I began playing in 1969 when my father bought a house with a table. I wasn't talented, but played 14.1 and felt knowledgeable because I'd watched the masters. Over the next 15 years, I attended 9 world 14.1 championships and always knew some of the players, as they remembered me from the Golden Q. I'd sweat the matches with them, and some, Crane in particular, were happy to explain some of the play to me.

... that's why I reckon I am the youngest old schooler.
