Yellow spots on cue shaft

I live in the carribbean where there is obviously more humidity. I have a couple of shafts that have yellow spots appearing on them. Is this related to the humidity or is it some kind of fungus. Does anybody know or have had this situation? Is there anyway to clean these spots? Please let me know.
