New shaft?

Posted 06-13-2012 at 10:42 AM by ENGLISH!

I'm a 46 yr. player with ENGLISH on every shot mostly with a Brunwick bar cue made into a 2 pc. I recently bought a 2nd. gen. Balabuschka (5/16 x 14 joint) w/ a 1st. gen. 314. The 314 is great for a beginner but I'm an old dog. any suggestions for a new shaft between the 2 for taper, tip size & deflection.

Being as you have been playing pool for a long time I would suggest you stay away from low deflection shafts. Over time pool players inherently learn to deal with deflection with whatever equipment they learn on.

Right now you are unconsciously aiming to deal with deflection on long shots and when you switch to a low deflection shaft you will see a marked difference in how often you can pot balls.

Live by either the old school or the new school. In between probably wont work.
