Getting back into the swing of things

Two and a half years ago I was regularly beating the 9 ball ghost, I was cashing in regional tournaments and was progressing very quick. I was doing all of this on 2-3 days of practice at best.

Work decided they needed me more than I needed a life outside of work. Suddenly I had zero time for pool for the next year and a half. I was working 60-72 hours a week. On the odd week that I only worked my normal 48 I was so far behind or exhausted that I still didn't play.

After a year and a half I finally made it back to the table and it was like I never saw one before. I struggled on every rack and it was pure torture. Unfortunately I was only able to play 1-2 days a week now so progress was designated by how focused I was. A lot of times the focus just wasn't there and recently it was nonexistent.

A few weeks ago I decided to try playing the 9 ball ghost. It was always at the end of my practice and it usually went terrible. I might start off on a 2-3 game roll and then I would shit the bed in epic fashion.

This week I started working 4 days on and 4 days off. I was actually able to play 3 days in a row. On the second day I played the 6 ball ghost and struggled to win. I was just out of stroke because of lack of play. On day 3 I skipped the 6 ball and went for the 7 ball ghost in a 5 ahead set.

Over a 2 and a half hour grind I beat the damn bastard to a pulp gaining steam the longer I played.

With this new schedule I just might be cashing in tournaments again.
